Q: Do I have to lock the Steelcore Security Strap each time I use it?
A: No, the Steelcore Security Strap works just like any ordinary tie-down strap. You only use the lock as needed for security purposes.

Q: Can I purchase additional sets of Steelcore Security Straps that will match the keys that lock the Steelcore Security Straps that I already own?
A: Yes, call or e-mail Steelcore with the number on your lock and the model that you want and we will arrange it.

Q: Why are there 3 keys?
A: For the purpose of keeping an extra key in a secure place in the event you should misplace your main set of key. Places such as a change purse or the credit card holder in your wallet are suggested.

Q: I have lost all 3 keys, what do I do now?
A: Call or e-mail Steelcore with the number on your lock and we will send you replacement keys for a small charge.

Q: Will the Steelcore Security Strap damage my gear or vehicle when tightened?
A: No, the polypropylene strap is a soft material that is one inch wide and will not damage your gear or vehicle when tightened. In addition, the buckle on the strap has a soft plastic boot that keeps the metal buckle from touching any surface on your gear or vehicle.

Q: Can I have custom lengths made?
A: Yes, we regularly make custom lengths and custom strap ends. Ends may have different hook styles and/or shackles. We also manufacture custom Steelcore Security Straps with loops on the ends. Call or e-mail Steelcore with your applications and needs.

Q: What Steelcore Security Straps model do I need to secure my spa?
A: All Steelcore spa and hot tub security straps are made to order. Call or e-mail Steelcore with your spa or hot tub measurements.

Q: Why are Steelcore Security Straps sold in pairs?
A: Because they are used most commonly with vehicle racking systems, which have two different racks for the front and back of the roof. In most instances, the load carried rests on both racks. To ensure the highest load safety and security from theft, Steelcore recommends strapping the load down over both the front and rear bars of the racking system using only Steelcore Security Straps. Using only one Steelcore Security Strap on one of the racking system bars, while securing the load on the other bar with a normal tie-down strap is not suggested, as a thief could potentially cut the regular tie-down strap and slide the gear through the single Steelcore Security Strap.

Q: Why does Steelcore utilize a keyed lock and not a combination lock?
A: The keyed lock is faster and easier to use, with only a ¼ inch turn required. The Steelcore keyed lock is also easy to use in conditions when the lock is out of sight, such as the evening hours, or when the buckle is completely out of site. The lock is capable of being opened as long as you can reach it with your finger tips. In addition, the Steelcore keyed lock holds up significantly better over time in the outdoor elements as compared to a combination lock.
